Wordless Book Speaks Powerful Message of Salvation

Every Sunday school teacher should see one of their primary tasks as that of leading their students to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. There are certainly a great number of ways that a teacher can present the message of salvation, but one of the simplest and most effective is the “wordless book.” Teachers can quickly and easily make such a book by stapling the edge of five different colored sheets of construction paper. The teacher should explain each colored page and its spiritual meaning as he or she shares the book with the pupils. The simple, yet powerful message of this presentation is especially effective with children and teens.

Page one – black.  The color black represents the blackness of the sin in our hearts (Proverbs 4:10). Talk about the things that we do wrong that make our heart black with sin. The punishment for sin is death. (Romans 6:23).

Page two – red.  Red is the color of blood. God made a way for us to have our sins forgiven and that was through the blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, which cleanses us from all sin (I John 1:17).

Page three – white.  White is the color of purity and cleanliness. Our heart can be as white as snow when Jesus Christ takes away our sin (Isaiah 1:18).

Page four – green.  Green is the color of growth. When we receive Jesus Christ, we have everlasting life (I John 5:12-13).

Page five – gold.  Gold represents the streets of heaven, where those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior will spend eternity (Revelation 21:18).
