ACTIVITY #14 – “Don’t Forget To Pray!”
Write an answer to each of the following.
1.Search the Scriptures: Find two Bible verses that are either examples of the power of prayer or that are about the importance of prayer.
2.What specific concerns related to your Sunday school should you take to God in prayer?
3.Why is it important to support all of your growth and renewal efforts with prayer?
4.When was the last time that your Sunday school class conducted an in-depth study of prayer and what the Bible teaches about prayer?
5.What is being done in your church to help teach the children and youth of your congregation about prayer?
6.Do the people of your church and Sunday school – children, youth and adults – have opportunities to pray in public? How might your encourage more of this?
An Additional Thought:
One additional question to ask about your Sunday school and your preparation for Sunday school growth: Is your Sunday school “family friendly?”
Families represent both an obligation and a great opportunity. You have an obligation to try to reach all persons – including all of the families – of your community, to tell them about Jesus Christ and to invite them to Sunday school. Also, since most families have 4 or more members, the addition of even several new families would represent a significant increase in attendance in any Sunday school. Don’t overlook the importance of reaching out to the families of your community.
